Today is the first day of spring! Too bad it doesn't feel like it. With spring here Matt and I have started working on our most recent project. Our yard... When we were buying this house we noticed that there was no grass on our 56 year old house, but there was a sprinkler system. Upon our home inspection we found out that the sprinkler system was non functioning... which explained the fact that the front yard was just a big pile of weeds. Yesterday we began digging the trenches for a new sprinkler system and tilling up the yard so we can plant grass seed. This project is going to be continual through out the years but first things first is the lawn. Here are some of the pictures of our yard before we put some elbow grease in. Hopefully sometime soon you will start seeing some transformations.

New Couches and a Lovely Gift
So.. this was definitely a splurge. But since we bought our new house we've got lots of rooms to fill and we wanted to have a nicer set of couches for the upstairs living room and use our old worn out couches downstairs in our family room. We bought the couch the week before presidents day and it just barely arrived (took almost a month). Below are some pictures of our new couch in our living room.
Matt's grandparents surprised us one day during both of our lunches. They had driven all the way down from Benjamin to drop off this lovely antique rocking chair. It sure is a beautiful addition to our home.

Bathroom remodel
Ok, so I've been taking my time posting about the bathroom remodel. This remodel started with us "wondering" what was underneath the carpet in the bathroom and quickly turned into a complete demolition project. We tore out the old stand up shower (we both almost puked when we pulled out a wad of old hair from the drain). We threw away the old toilet... it didn't seem to like to be used since it "groaned" every single time we flushed it. We had to take down all of the drywall from around the new bathtub, reroute the drain plumbing, install a bath spout, squeeze a bathtub in, and screw it to the wall. The most time consuming part of the whole project was the tile. We had borrowed my dad's tile saw and Matt was busy cutting away while I was busy laying and designing how the tile should go. We even got brave enough to tile up and around the bathtub for our shower surround. Instead of installing a new vanity we just stained the existing one a darker color, added a backsplash, new hardware, new faucet, new vanity lights, and a new mirror. We painted the whole bathroom a pretty green to match our existing shower curtain, and put in a new toilet. Overall it was a great way to see both mine and Matt's skills and we both learned new things. (and I found out my husband is a pretty good handyman)
Here are a few of the before and after pictures. Enjoy!!

New Bird
Last week, the husband and I, decided to adopt another birdie. Our two budgies, Chica and Gizmo, don't like spending much time with us since they got together... and we got them a nesting box so maybe we can have some baby budgies here soon. Bonsai is our little baby Cockatiel. We bought her from a local breeder in Helper, Utah. She is such a doll and even though she is twice as big as the budgies those budgies just walk all over her (especially chica). Here are some fun pics or the babies..
